Could Ron Paul Digg his way to the Presidency?
If you have been keeping an eye on Digg's Digg the Candidates you would see that Ron Paul has 17,613 friends. He's the top republican, ahead of distant second Mike Huckabee by 16,392 friends. Barak Obama is leading the democrats, but his 9525 doesn't compare to Ron Paul's. It beats Hillary's 1204 though.
While this doesn't match up with recent polling, there are a number of factors to consider.
Firstly, I found it very interesting to see that the Democrats have 22,034 for total friends and the Republicans have 22,379. Those two numbers are VERY close together. I suspect a similar proportion of both parties have been using the site.
However, you're allowed to add as many candidates as you want, so it all depends on how people have been using the site.
Perhaps the pollsters only call landlines, and all of the Ron Paul fans primarily use cell phones. We could be in for a surprise come election day.
I'd be very interested to hear what people think is going on here.
